Meet Katy

I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience - most of my career focuses specifically on grief, end-of-life care, living with illness, and other changes in life. Because I was a home hospice social worker for a number of years, my approach is practical and grounded in real life.  I love exploring concepts of meaning and understanding the way our histories shape us, and I also encourage practices that make a tangible difference – meditation, positive self-talk, walking, support groups, journaling – to name a few.

I am a graduate of Washington University’s Brown School of Social Work and I have a B.A. from Vanderbilt University in English.

Scared to Death, Showing Up Anyway

I have a love of literature, ideas, poetry, theater, and stories in general – these certainly inform my person and approach. Some of my essays and poems specifically related to grief and mental health have been published over the years, and I was honored to give a TEDx talk in 2019 in Nashville.
